Create a “playlist” for your characters and story, selecting songs that help you get into your character’s frame of mind of the scene’s tone. Then play those songs as you write. Do you find that you’ve started writing again? Selecting the songs forced you to think about your characters’ personalities, motivations and goals as well as the story’s plot.
